Find Your Start Line
Author: Todd Sones

The Problem
Misaligning the face of the putter properly to your chosen target line

Why it’s Happening
One of the most difficult things for a player of any caliber to do is to line the face of the putter to a target outside of their field of vision.

The Solution

Start to focus on only the first 10-12 inches of your putt, which is your start line. From behind the ball, once you have chosen your start line, keep your eye on it as you set the putter down. Once the putter is down, commit to your line and then trust your alignment, shifting your focus to the distance to the hole.

The Drill
Using a ball mark, find your start line from behind the ball, and then press it in to the ground 10-12 inches in front of the ball. Then go through your routine, first aligning your putter to the ball mark then rolling your ball over your start line. Use this drill to practice finding your start line and starting your ball on line for different putts. With enough practice, you will find yourself making more putts on the course.
